Two teenagers from Lisle are charged with sexually assaulting a woman inside a Walgreens washroom in Naperville.
James Patterson, 17, and an unidentified 15-year-old male have been charged in connection with the attack, which occurred Sunday afternoon at the store, 713 East Ogden Avenue, DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin announced Tuesday.
The woman was inside the washroom when Patterson and the other boy entered. Patterson allegedly attacked the victim, pinned her against a stall wall, and pulled down her pants. The victim told Patterson to stop and was initially able to pull her pants back up and leave the stall, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said Patterson then grabbed the victim again, pinned her against a washroom wall, and pulled down her pants a second time. This time, Patterson allegedly struck the victim, knocking her to the ground, and repeatedly punched her before sexually assaulting her. The 15-year-old recorded the assault on video and also sexually assaulted the victim, according to the state’s attorney’s office.
Both teens fled after the attack, and the victim reported the assault to store employees. Naperville police officers arrested Patterson and the 15-year-old nearby a short time later. Prosecutors said Patterson had the victim’s cell phone at the time of his arrest.
He is charged as an adult with four counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault and one count of robbery. The juvenile is charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, one count of criminal sexual assault, and four counts of creating child sexual abuse material.
Judge Joshua Dieden detained Patterson pending trial. The state’s attorney’s office said the 15-year-old was detained until at least January 27 by Judge Chantelle Porter.
