A 30-year-old man was stabbed at the Western Blue Line station in Bucktown early Saturday morning after an argument turned into a physical attack, police said.

Officers responded to the station at 1909 North Western Avenue around 12:20 a.m. after the victim got into an argument with an unknown man on the platform, CPD said. The offender pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the victim before fleeing the station on foot, according to police.

The victim suffered a puncture wound to his left hand and was listed in good condition at Stroger Hospital.

The assailant was described as a bald Hispanic man wearing a gray jumpsuit.

At least three other people have been stabbed while riding CTA trains in recent days:

  • Two women were stabbed while riding a Brown Line train in the Loop last Saturday evening. CPD said the women, ages 43 and 23, got into a fight with a woman on the Clark-Lake platform around 7:52 p.m. and the fight moved onto a train where the assailant attacked the pair a second time, cutting the older woman on the arm and the younger woman on the hand.
  • On March 12, a 37-year-old man was stabbed while waiting on the northbound platform of the Grand Red Line station in River North, at 521 North State Street. Just before midnight, a man walked up to the victim and stabbed him in the left tricep without warning, according to police.
