Everybody hates when the FedEx driver skips their stop. Prosecutors say Dylan Longstreet did something about it. A whole lotta something.
On January 31, prosecutors say, Longstreet, 21, rounded up three pals and they tracked down the FedEx truck he suspected of skipping his house. Once they found it in the 10000 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue, Longstreet approached the truck and pointed a firearm at the 23-year-old driver, according to the allegations.
Then, in a move that reflects Longstreet’s lack of criminal background, he allegedly gave the driver his own name and home address that would be on the package he wanted, prosecutors claim.
Along with his three accomplices, Longstreet allegedly entered the truck and located the wayward package. The accomplices also grabbed 10 additional packages before fleeing. Prosecutors said Longstreet also demanded the driver’s phone and wallet during the robbery.
The truck’s surveillance cameras recorded the encounter, providing additional evidence in the case.
Prosecutors said cops who arrested Longstreet to face charges in the case found a loaded firearm in his waistband. While Longstreet has a valid firearm owner’s identification card, authorities said he does not have a concealed carry license.
He is charged with armed robbery, aggravated battery in a public place, and aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon in a vehicle.
Judge James Costello initially granted the state’s petition to detain Longstreet, calling the allegations “an extremely dangerous crime over a minor inconvenience,” according to court records. But those records show Judge Laura Ayala-Gonzalez later ordered Longstreet released on electronic monitoring.
