Woman found fatally stabbed in Albany Park apartment building

Chicago police are investigating after a woman was found fatally stabbed in the neck inside an Albany Park apartment early Sunday.

Officers responded to a 911 call about a woman who was unconscious in the ground-level hallway of an apartment building in the 4800 block of North Avers Avenue around 1:48 a.m., according to CPD. They found the unidentified woman unresponsive with a stab wound to her neck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police established a crime scene in a garden apartment unit, but authorities had not announced any arrests or identified a possible offender as of Sunday afternoon.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office had not publicly identified the victim as of Sunday afternoon. Its records listed her as an Asian woman but provided no additional information about her age or hometown, suggesting her identity had not yet been confirmed. An officer who responded to the scene said the woman appeared to be between 25 and 30 years old.

Ald. Samantha Nugent (39th) emailed constituents Sunday morning asking anyone with information about the woman’s death to contact police.

“If you have any additional information, including an eyewitness account, video footage, or any evidence, please call 312.742.4410 or email [email protected],” Nugent wrote.
