Chicago police detectives just released video footage of a “running gun battle” that left a man critically injured during Mexican Independence Day festivities in Avondale on September 16.
Surveillance video released by CPD shows men walking on and near the 3600 block of West Belmont around 6:09 p.m. At one point, people start running, and one of the people CPD identified as a gunman trips a man who runs past him.
Within seconds, more people appear in the frame and then begin ducking and running as if responding to gunfire. Watch:
Police are looking for three men in particular, saying they were “all armed and engaged in a running gun battle.” The victim, police said, “was an innocent bystander attempting to flee the scene with family members.”
CPD said in September that a 30-year-old man was critically injured by a gunshot wound to his leg.
Anyone who has information about the men can call Area Five detectives at 312-746-6554. The case number is JG-426970. Tips can also be submitted anonymously at cpdtip.com
