CHICAGO — A 15-year-old boy was part of an armed robbery crew that mugged two men near the United Center last night, according to Chicago police. They say he is also part of the group that robbed a West Loop convenience store at gunpoint earlier this month.
Cops arrested the boy around 7:10 p.m. Tuesday in the 2200 block of West Washington. About 30 minutes earlier, the boy and some accomplices robbed two men, ages 38 and 44, at gunpoint in the 2000 block of West Madison, according to a CPD media release.
Police say the 15-year-old also participated in the armed robbery of the 7-Eleven at 833 West Van Buren around 9:36 a.m. on December 3.
CPD released surveillance images of the robbery crew last week, saying the same group also robbed convenience stores in the first block of East Lake on November 27 and the first block of North Wells on December 3.
During each robbery, four or five armed men entered stores and went behind the counters, the police said. They removed cash from the registers and merchandise from the shelves and escaped in a stolen vehicle.
The boy is charged with three counts of armed robbery with a firearm.
