Chicago police have announced charges against three people in connection with armed robberies reported last night at and near the North-Clybourn Red Line station. All three of the accused are 15 years old.
In a brief press release issued Wednesday morning, CPD said two boys were identified as the people who robbed a 22-year-old man in the 1700 block of North Sheffield around 8:30 p.m. The victim told police he was walking home from work when two offenders confronted him with unspecified weapons and took his valuables.
Those same boys joined a 15-year-old girl to rob another victim at the North-Clybourn station about 15 minutes later.
The second victim, a 23-year-old man, reported that two men and a woman confronted him with knives and stole his property on the platform. All three robbers escaped on an inbound train.
CPD surveillance officers coordinated with patrol units to intercept the train at Cermak-Chinatown about 15 minutes later. All three suspects were arrested there.
The boys are each charged with two counts of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon. The girl is charged with one count of the same crime, police said.
No other information about them is available because state law shields juvenile records.
