CHICAGO — Police on Tuesday evening released surveillance images of the man suspected of fatally shooting another man on a Lincoln Park sidewalk last week.

Alexander Nesteruk, 34, of Wheaton, was shot around 3:58 p.m. last Wednesday, November 27, in the 2400 block of North Clark, officials said. He died on Monday afternoon.

Ald. Timmy Knudsen (43rd) said in an email shortly after the shooting that Nesteruk was “exhibiting erratic and dangerous behavior at the time of the shooting and engaged with the offender aggressively before the incident.”

The alderman also said he believed the “victim and offender had a preexisting relationship.”

But Chicago police don’t seem to know who the gunman is. They’re asking anyone who recognizes the individual in the surveillance images above to contact Area Three detectives at 312-744-8261 about case #JH523475.

The images are taken from a very short video clip that CPD posted to its YouTube channel.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
