Woman sexually assaulted during armed home invasion in West Rogers Park

CHICAGO — Detectives are investigating an armed home invasion and sexual assault reported in West Rogers Park overnight.

Officers responded to a 27-year-old woman’s call for help in the 6200 block of North Bell at 2:50 a.m., a Chicago police spokesperson said. She reported that a man she did not know had entered her apartment through the back door while she was asleep. He implied that other people were with him and proceeded to sexually assault her while armed with a knife, police said.

After the police arrived, the woman realized that the man had taken items from her home, including her car keys and a game console. She was taken to Swedish Hospital for treatment, according to CPD.

The assailant is described as a Black male wearing black clothing and a black face mask, 5’10” to 6 feet tall, with a medium build and a tattoo on the face, according to the spokesperson. Officers searched the neighborhood for the man but did not find him.
