CHICAGO — Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 reward for information that helps Chicago cops solve a horrific murder.
First responders found 29-year-old Al Walker on fire in an alley behind the 6700 block of South Prairie a little after 5 p.m. on October 12. He died three days later. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, Walker was physically assaulted and then set on fire inside a motor vehicle. Officials declared his death a homicide.
Walker’s family did not learn about his death until last month because officials had a difficult time identifying him.
“I buried him the Tuesday right before Thanksgiving, the worst day of my life,” his mother, Tashanna Jenkins, told WGN earlier this month. “I never thought I would bury one of my kids. I always thought my kids would bury me… He did not deserve to be burned alive.”
For the next 60 days, Crime Stoppers is offering up to $10,000 for information leading to the indictment or arrest of anyone responsible for Walker’s death. Tipsters do not need to provide their names to qualify for the reward because the organization has created a system for tracking tips and tipsters anonymously.
Anyone with information can contact the organization at [email protected] or 800-535-STOP.
