Gunman robs 2 people in Bucktown alley

CHICAGO — A gunman robbed two people in an alley just steps from one of Bucktown’s busiest intersections on Saturday evening.

Police said an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were in an alley behind the 1600 block of North Milwaukee when a man walked up with a gun and demanded their property around 6:12 p.m. They complied with his orders, and he escaped on foot, heading south, a Chicago police spokesperson said.

Cops tracked one of the stolen items and recovered much of the victims’ property in the 1400 block of North Leavitt. Among the items the police found were a Sony camera and a tote bag.

The victims described the robber as a Black male, possibly in his 40s, wearing a gray hoodie.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is [email protected]
