CHICAGO — A Chicago man has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting another man during a dispute outside a Chinatown nightclub over the weekend. Terris Williams, 31, is scheduled to appear before a judge for a detention hearing at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse on Tuesday.
Cops responded to calls of shots fired in the 400 block of West 24th Street around 2:07 a.m. Sunday.
Citing preliminary information, CPD said the incident began when a 35-year-old man got into a fight with several people. The brawl broke up and the group dispersed, but one of the participants retrieved a handgun and shot the 35-year-old in the buttocks.
CPD said the gunman also fired shots at a 36-year-old man, but he was not injured.
Officers arrested Williams nearby shortly after arriving on the scene. The cops said someone had shot out a security guard’s car window. They also said pepper spray had been used inside the club, but no additional injuries were reported.
Williams is charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, and aggravated battery by discharging a firearm.
