CHICAGO — A man who received a 6-year attempted murder sentence for stabbing a man nine times during an argument at North Avenue Beach in 2017 is back in custody. Prosecutors say Pablo Sosa stabbed another man during an argument in the suburbs late last year.
Back in June 2017, Sosa struck up a conversation with a 25-year-old man at the beach, and they chatted for about an hour. Then the men began to physically fight, and Sosa pulled out two knives, which he used to stab the other man, officials said.
Bystanders and police caught up with Sosa as he fled on his bike. One man hit and stabbed Sosa with a broken bottle.
He ultimately pleaded guilty to attempted murder and received a 6-year sentence in 2020. State records show he was paroled in July 2022.
Now, prosecutors say Sosa stabbed a 53-year-old man during a road rage incident in Des Plaines on October 11. According to a WGN-TV report, police said Sosa was riding his bike west on Miner Street as the victim drove alongside. An argument between the men turned physical, and Sosa punched and stabbed the victim through an open driver-side window, the report said.
Investigators identified Sosa through video, witness statements, and analysis of a bicycle part police found at the scene. He’s once again charged with attempted murder.
