CHICAGO — The good news for Terrion Morris last Friday was that he was being released from the Robinson Correctional Center, where he had been serving time for parole violation in a gun case. The bad news was that some cops were waiting to arrest him again on new allegations that he robbed a man at gunpoint near Wrigley Field last year.
Morris, 30, is now being detained at the Cook County jail by order of Judge Antara Rivera, who found him to be too great of a public safety risk to release pending trial.
The robbery occurred next to Raising Cane’s on the corner of Clark and Waveland around 2:37 a.m. on July 6, 2024.
A 22-year-old man from Bourbonnais, Illinois, told police that three men, one armed with a gun, confronted him and demanded his valuables, a Chicago police report said. While the gunman cocked the firearm, other crew members removed his watch from his wrist and took his chain and satchel, officials said.
Surveillance video showed the robbers running to a getaway car that was waiting nearby. Investigators reviewed data from license plate readers and identified Morris as the car’s owner, according to prosecutors. The victim later identified Morris in a photo lineup.
So far, he’s the only person charged with the crime.
Court records show Morris received a four-year prison sentence for being a felon in possession of a firearm in 2023. He has a previous gun-related conviction from 2015.
