Three juveniles, ages 13 to 16, were shot by automatic rifle fire as they stood outside in Chatham early Tuesday morning.

A 16-year-old girl and two boys, ages 14 and 13, told Chicago police that a gunman opened fire on them from a red SUV in the 7900 block of South Maryland around 12:23 a.m., officials said.

An officer on patrol heard the shots and reported that it sounded like automatic gunfire. Investigators found rifle casings up and down the street.

CP said the girl and the 13-year-old were shot in the foot, while the 14-year-old boy was shot in the ankle. All were in good condition at Comer Children’s Hospital, according to a CPD statement.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
