2 robbed at gunpoint while sitting in a car in Wicker Park

Two people were robbed as they sat in their car in Wicker Park early Saturday.

The victims were parked in the 2000 block of West North Avenue when two men approached the vehicle from behind around 4:28 a.m., according to preliminary information. Both robbers displayed guns, opened the car doors, and ordered the victims to get out.

After getting a wallet from one man and a phone from the other, the robbers escaped in a white vehicle, possibly a Hyundai. They were described as only as Black men wearing black ski masks.

After the robbery, the victims returned to their car and drove to the Shakespeare (14th) District station in Logan Square to file a report. Robberies in the district, which suffered under seemingly endless waves of armed robbery sprees for nearly three years, are down 39% compared to 2024.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
