A 34-year-old man was seriously injured during an attack at the Division Blue Line station entrance in Wicker Park on Sunday morning, according to Chicago police.

The incident occurred around 5:25 a.m. on the sidewalk near the station entrance at 1200 North Milwaukee. Police reported that an unknown male suspect attacked the victim as they walked into the subway entrance. Surveillance footage captured part of the incident, showing the suspect fleeing into a nearby alley. He was described as wearing a long white coat and carrying a backpack.

A witness discovered the victim sitting on the curb, bleeding from the head, and called 911 approximately 15 minutes after the attack. Chicago police evidence technicians collected the victim’s gym shoes, found next to blood on the sidewalk, as part of the investigation.

The victim was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition. Authorities are continuing to investigate, and no arrests have been made.
