A 25-year-old Indiana man is facing charges in two brutal sexual assault cases after prosecutors said he used Instagram to lure women into his car in Chicago and the suburbs. Jaquis Washington is charged with kidnapping and criminal sexual assault in connection with separate incidents that occurred a year apart, according to court filings.
On October 10, 2023, around 1:30 a.m., Washington drove from Indiana to meet a woman after connecting with her on Instagram, prosecutors said. When she got into his car, Washington allegedly sexually assaulted her in the 3600 block of North Central Avenue and then stole her phone and deleted Instagram messages in an attempt to erase evidence, prosecutors said.
Almost exactly a year later, on October 12, 2024, Washington allegedly struck again, this time in west suburban Westchester. Prosecutors said he “sought out” another woman on Instagram, picked her up, and drove her to a secluded location.

There, Washington allegedly took her phone and struck her before sexually assaulting her multiple times. When the woman refused to comply with his orders, prosecutors said Washington bit and beat her and strangled her until she lost consciousness. As he fled, he allegedly ran over her leg with his car.
Judge Antara Nash Rivera ordered Washington detained in the city case. Judge Teresa Molina-Gonzalez held him in the suburban matter.
