Woman gets 6 years for 62-pound cocaine bust at Midway Airport

An Indianapolis woman has been sentenced to six years in prison after federal agents intercepted her and a companion with nearly 62 pounds of cocaine at Midway Airport last year.

Chania Logan, 27, pleaded guilty on Thursday to manufacture-delivery of cocaine before Cook County Judge Stanley Sacks. While the sentence is six years, she is expected to be released in less than two years after receiving the state’s standard 50% reduction for good behavior and credit for time spent in custody and on an ankle monitor.

Authorities said Logan and a companion flew from Los Angeles to Chicago’s Midway Airport on June 4, 2024, and walked right into a federal law enforcement task force that was waiting to welcome them.

Investigators reported finding 31 pounds of suspected cocaine in Logan’s luggage. Her companion bolted when agents approached, abandoning two bags that contained another 31 pounds of the drug, according to officials.
