Officials are conducting three death investigations after two children and a woman were found dead in Lake Michigan near Jackson Park on Saturday. Without providing details, Chicago police said the deaths “appear to be connected and appear to stem from a domestic dispute.”

The first discovery came at 11:23 a.m., when first responders pulled an infant girl from the water in the 5700 block of South Lake Shore Drive. As of Sunday morning, the medical examiner had not listed her age.

Three hours later, at 2:23 p.m., two more bodies were found nearly a mile south. Police said a 6-year-old boy was recovered from the lake in the 6300 block of East Hayes Drive, and a 31-year-old woman was pulled from the water in the same area. Medical examiner records, however, list the woman as being found about a block south from the boy.

CPD radio traffic indicates that police also recovered a baby seat, two blankets, and a diaper bag in the park about a block south of La Rabida Children’s Hospital, 6501 South Promontory Drive, not far from 67th Street Beach.

Police have not said why they believe the deaths are connected, why they are tied to a domestic dispute, how the victims ended up spread over such a distance, or whether detectives are seeking any suspects.

Autopsies for all three victims are scheduled for Sunday. (Update: The medical examiner did not reach a conclusion about the causes and manners of the victims’ deaths. Their autopsy results are still pending.)
