Four people face federal charges in connection with this weekend’s clash between federal agents and protesters at an immigration detention facility in west suburban Broadview.

Newly filed criminal complaints authored by agents of the FBI, ATF, and Homeland Security Investigations describe chaotic scenes as federal officers tried to push back demonstrators gathered outside the facility at 1930 Beach Street. Authorities say two of the arrestees, both licensed to carry firearms, were armed with pistols.

In one case, prosecutors say 42-year-old Paul Ivery stood about six inches from Border Patrol agents and shouted something to the effect of “I’ll f****** kill you right now” and challenged the agents to “do something” about the threat he just made.

The agents chased Ivery, who allegedly jumped on top of an occupied car in the street, then fought with officers who tried to detain him. Body-worn camera footage allegedly shows him resisting while officers repeatedly ordered him to “give us your hands.”

A video posted to Twitter by Amanda Moore shows agents arresting a man who identifies himself as Paul Ivery while other agents fire less-lethal rounds into the ground to drive back onlookers.

The complaint said Ivery agreed to speak with agents after his arrest and explained that he attended the protest due to his “disappointment that ICE agents were disrespectful towards the Broadview Police Department and veterans.”

Federal agents also arrested two married protesters, Ray Collins and Jocelyne Robledo, who allegedly confronted officers who were pushing the crowd back.

The complaint says Robledo refused to move, shoved agents, and was found carrying a loaded GForce 9mm pistol around her waist. As officers struggled with her, Collins allegedly charged toward them, shouting to leave his wife alone, injuring an ATF agent’s thumb in the scuffle. Officers say he, too, was carrying a loaded handgun. Both weapons were seized and rendered safe at the scene.

Agents confirmed Collins and Robledo carry gun permits and they do not face firearms charges, according to the complaint.

In a third case, officials say 39-year-old Hubert Mazur ignored orders to move back, grabbed a Border Patrol agent’s arm, and wrestled with him until both hit the ground before Mazur was subdued.

All four are charged with forcibly assaulting, resisting, or impeding federal officers.

Update 7:05 p.m. — After this report was published, federal prosecutors announced charges against a fifth person in connection with Saturday’s protest. Dana Briggs ignored orders to clear the street outside the ICE compound and swung at an agent.
