Chicago police are searching for a smash-and-grab crew that has been plowing stolen cars into storefronts on the West Side to steal sports apparel and other merchandise.

A video released by police shows one of the burglars reversing a car into a storefront early November 10, shattering glass and window frames, before a white cargo van pulls up. Seven masked thieves pour out of the van and rush inside to grab what they can before fleeing.

Investigators said the group struck at least twice in two days: around 4:48 a.m. on November 9 in the 4000 block of West Madison Street and around 4 a.m. on November 10 in the 800 block of North Kedzie Avenue.

In both cases, police said, the thieves rammed a stolen car through a locked entryway to gain access. Once inside, they grabbed clothing, shoes, and other retail goods, then fled in another stolen vehicle before officers arrived.

Police described the suspects as Black males between 15 and 19 years old, weighing 110 to 150 pounds, all dressed in black with black masks.

Anyone with information about the crew or the burglaries is asked to contact Area Four detectives at 312-746-8253 or submit an anonymous tip at CPDTIP.com using reference number P25-4-026.
