$10,000 reward for info leading to the killer of 5-year-old Reign Ware

Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 cash reward for information leading to charges in the killing of five-year-old Reign Ware, who was shot to death last year while sitting in a parked car on the Near West Side.

Reign was leaving a small family gathering with her father around 2:56 a.m. on May 26, 2024, when more than 60 rounds were fired from four different guns in the 200 block of South Campbell Avenue, according to relatives and a Chicago police report.

Reign was struck in the abdomen as she sat inside a vehicle with her father. A 24-year-old man nearby suffered a non-fatal gunshot injury.

Her mother told news outlets the family had been celebrating a relative’s birthday, and the girl had fallen asleep in the back seat while her father stopped to talk with people outside.

Investigators said a dark Jeep Cherokee pulled up and someone inside opened fire.

Reign was on track to start kindergarten last fall. Her mother described her as bright, athletic, and constantly dancing—nicknamed the “TikTok queen” by relatives.

Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-535-STOP or email [email protected]. Tipsters receive a unique code to claim rewards if their information leads to charges.
