Medical examiner: Man found stuffed in suitcase in Little Village was shot to death

A man found stuffed inside a suitcase in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood last autumn was shot to death, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined.

Omar Cobbs, 48, was “badly decomposed” when he was discovered inside a green suitcase in the 3300 block of South Kedzie Avenue shortly before noon on October 17, according to a Chicago Police Department report.

The medical examiner’s office has ruled his death a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds to the head.

CPD classified the case as a “death investigation” while the cause and manner of death were being determined. No arrests have been announced in connection with his death.
