Man carjacked while dropping off friend in the West Loop

A man was carjacked while dropping off a friend in the West Loop on Thursday evening, according to a Chicago police report.

The 21-year-old victim was sitting in his 2025 Honda Accord in the 100 block of North Carpenter Street around 8:30 p.m. when a hijacker opened the driver’s door and pulled him from the vehicle, a Chicago Police Department spokesperson said. The offender then drove away in the Honda.

Police later recovered the car in the 700 block of North Hamlin Avenue in Humboldt Park, the spokesperson said. The hijacker had fled before officers arrived.

The victim described the offender as a Black male wearing a ski mask, a black hoodie, and gray Adidas sweatpants.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
