A 13-year-old boy was shot during an attempted robbery in Washington Park on Monday evening, according to Chicago police, who say three offenders remain at large.
The boy was on the back porch of a home in the 5800 block of South Michigan Avenue around 7 p.m. when three people he did not know approached and tried to take his belongings, police said.
One of the three pulled out a gun, struck the boy, and fired at least one shot, hitting him in the right ankle, according to police. The group then ran off.
The boy was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he was initially listed in good condition, police said.
He described the shooter to police as a Black male around 15 years old with dreadlocks, wearing a black hoodie. The other two were described as Black males wearing Nike tracksuits.
