A Chicago woman is accused of orchestrating armed robberies of two drug dealers by tipping off two accomplices, including her 17-year-old nephew, to their location and then posing as an additional victim of the crime.
Nakeia Hamilton, 28, was detained by Judge John Hock after prosecutors accused her of orchestrating the August 6 robbery in the 5000 block of West Jackson Boulevard and recruiting two accomplices, including her teenage nephew, to carry it out.
According to prosecutors and a CPD report, Hamilton knew the victims would have approximately $10,000 worth of narcotics when she FaceTimed her nephew, gave him a description of one of the victims’ vehicles and instructed him to rob them when they arrived. Hamilton allegedly knew firearms would be involved and planned to pose as an additional victim of the holdup, prosecutors said.
When the men arrived, the 17-year-old and an unidentified accomplice confronted them, prosecutors alleged. They struck one victim, a 30-year-old man, in the head with a firearm and robbed him of a wallet containing about $400 and an iPhone. His 36-year-old companion was robbed of about $23, according to prosecutors. The charging documents do not specifically mention that any narcotics were taken during the robbery.
Police arrested the 17-year-old shortly after the holdup. During questioning, he allegedly revealed that Hamilton was actually the organizer of the robbery, not a victim, according to the CPD report.
Hamilton is charged with two counts of armed robbery with a firearm, two counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of robbery. Her CPD arrest report mentioned that Hamilton told officers that she is pregnant.
The juvenile is charged with two counts of armed robbery with a firearm. Because he is under 18, state law bars CPD from providing additional details about him, including his relationship to Hamilton.
