Chicago police are asking the public to remain vigilant after a man allegedly tried to persuade a 15-year-old girl to get into his car as she waited for a bus on the Northwest Side Thursday afternoon. The girl handled the situation calmly, capturing video and audio of the man during one of his alleged attempts to persuade her to get into the vehicle.

The girl was waiting near the 6400 block of West Irving Park Road around 4:20 p.m. on September 10 when the man allegedly began circling the area in a black Cadillac, according to a CPD community alert. The alert reflects information shared online by the girl’s mother, who said the man stopped and spoke to her daughter multiple times, repeatedly asking whether she needed a ride.

When the girl declined, the man allegedly told her, “I’ll keep coming around until you say yes.” Here’s the video she recorded:

The girl’s mother described the man’s behavior as “persistent and concerning,” particularly because he continued to circle the area and to get the girl into his vehicle after she declined. She described the man as a White male who was bald, had blue eyes, and tattoos on both arms. CPD said he was believed to be between 20 and 30 years old and was wearing a button-down shirt.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
