Man uncooperative after being shot in River North overnight, cops say

A 29-year-old man is in good condition after being shot in the River North neighborhood overnight, police said. The victim is not cooperating with investigators, according to a CPD statement.

The man sought medical treatment for a wound to his leg at Mount Sinai Hospital around 1 a.m., about an hour after he was reportedly shot on the 800 block of North Cambridge.

Investigators found shell casings outside a row house at 884 North Cambridge, but the victim reportedly refused to provide police with any details about the shooting.

Area 3 detectives are investigating. Officials said the victim is “known” to the Chicago Police Department.

This morning’s victim is the second person to be shot on the 800 block of North Cambridge this year. Two people were shot on the block last year, according to police records.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
