Police are investigating a Thursday afternoon home invasion at the Presidential Towers high-rise complex, 575 West Madison, in the West Loop.

The offender followed a 22-year-old man from an elevator to the victim’s 28th-floor unit and then forced his way inside around 2:56 p.m., according to Sgt. Rocco Alioto, a CPD spokesperson.

Once inside the apartment, the offender demanded property from the man and got away with the victim’s MacBook, PlayStation 4, and other valuables, a CPD report said.

The offender used one of the victim’s credit card at a liquor store on the 800 block of South Wabash shortly after the home invasion, according to the report.

Surveillance images show the suspect to be a Black male in his 30’s who carried a Nike book bag and wore a tight white shirt, baggy white pants, a blue face mask, and a white baseball hat. He has a dollar sign tattoo on his face, the victim said.

Alioto said the victim was not injured. Area Three detectives are investigating.
