Cops warn of Burnham Harbor boat burglar

A serial burglar broke into at least four boats at Burnham Harbor in July, according to a community alert from Chicago police.

The man took property from boats after gaining entry through unlocked doors or by prying locked doors on vessels moored at the harbor, 1559 South Lake Shore Drive.

Police said he broke into boats:

  • on July 8 between 6:45 a.m. and 7:15 a.m.
  • between 9 p.m. July 12 and 3 p.m. July 13
  • on July 19 at 6 p.m.

A fourth boat was burglarized sometime between July 6 and 17, according to the CPD alert.

Police said the man is between 25- and 50-years-old, stands about 5’10” tall, weighs 160 pounds.
