Police investigate shootings in Rogers Park and Avondale

Police are investigating weekend shootings in the Rogers Park and Avondale neighborhoods. No arrests have been made.

Rogers Park shooting

A 39-year-old man walked into St. Francis Hospital with a gunshot wound to his left leg around 10:37 p.m. Saturday night, police said. The victim told investigators that he was walking on the 6700 block of North Hermitage when someone began shooting at him.

Officers found shell casings on the southeast corner of Hermitage and Pratt a short time later. The victim is in good condition. CPD did not release any suspect descriptions, but the department did say the victim is “known to police.”

Avondale shooting

Police said a 22-year-old man is in fair condition after someone shot him as he drove on the 3400 block of North Kedzie at 3:50 a.m. Sunday. According to the victim, a gunman opened fire on his car from a white Subaru as they traveled southbound on Kedzie.

Cops found the victim at Belmont and Kedzie. There were three bullet holes in the driver’s side of his car.

An ambulance transported the injured man to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in fair condition with a gunshot wound to his leg.
