Police link 2 robberies, 1 carjacking to crew in Avondale, Logan Square

A group of armed men pulled off two robberies and a carjacking in under an hour Friday afternoon, according to a CPD alert. No one was injured in the hold-ups.

The men, who used a red Acura or Honda, struck twice in Avondale and once in Logan Square. Police connected three crimes to the men:

  • In the 3300 block of North Elston at 2:44 p.m., one of the offenders pulled out a gun and robbed two victims of wallets, keys, and a phone. Police said the primary suspect is a Black male between 24- and 27-years-old who stands 6’1” or 6’2” tall, weighs 220 pounds, and wore a black hoodie.
  • In the 3000 block of North Elston at 3:10 p.m., a food delivery driver was carjacked by three men who confronted him when he returned to his white Dodge Charger. In this case, the primary offender is described as a Black male between 23- and 28-years-old who stands 5’5” to 5’7” tall and weighs 200 to 220 pounds.
  • No details were available about the third robbery, which took place in the 2700 block of North Mozart at 3:30 p.m. However, police said the primary offender is a Black male between 18- and 25-years-old who stands 6’1” to 6’2” tall and weighs 220 pounds.

Some witnesses reported that the offenders’ red car bore a paper license plate and is missing its passenger-side mirror.
