Police: Man shot while parking car in Bucktown

A 27-year-old man was shot as he parked his car in the Bucktown neighborhood early Saturday, police said. No one is in custody.

The gunman approached the victim and asked for his gang affiliation as the man parked on the 2300 block of West Lyndale around 1:35 a.m., according to a CPD statement. He then fired shots into the car, striking the victim in his arm. Police said the victim does not have prior contact with CPD.

After shooting the victim, the gunman ran to a silver vehicle and fled the scene. The victim drove himself to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for treatment of two gunshot wounds and was listed in good condition, police said.

Officers found five shell casings, blood, and bullet holes in another parked car at the shooting scene.

Area Five detectives are investigating.
