Two robbers pushed a woman to the ground, tried to take her purse, and then carjacked her in the Boystown neighborhood Friday evening, police said. She was not seriously injured, and no arrests have been made.
The offenders approached the 38-year-old woman at 10:33 p.m. as she was preparing to get into her gray 2018 BMW on the 800 block of West Cornelia, according to Officer Ronald Westbrooks, a CPD spokesperson.
They demanded her keys and tried to wrestle her purse away, but didn’t get it, Westbrooks said. Both offenders then got into her car and drove away.
CPD license plate-reading technology detected the stolen vehicle traveling southbound on Lake Shore Drive in Streeterville soon after the carjacking. By 11:15 p.m., it was in the 3800 block of West Roosevelt, according to Westbrooks. So far, the car has not been found.
Area Three detectives are investigating.
