Police: Burglar targeting bikes in Wicker Park, Bucktown garages

A burglar appears to be going after bicycles in a series of break-ins around Wicker Park and Bucktown, police said in a community alert Monday. Detectives linked three burglaries to the prowler since April 23.

According to the alert, the offender has forced his way into some burglaries while others had been left open. Police said the three related burglaries took place:

  • in the 2000 block of West Evergreen between noon and 2 p.m. on April 23
  • in the 2000 block of West McLean between 11 p.m. April 27 and 6 a.m. April 28
  • in the 1800 block of West Cortland between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on April 29

The alert did not include any description of the suspect.
