Woman, 18, sexually assaulted in Ravenswood, police say in community alert

A man sexually assaulted a woman after luring her into a Ravenswood construction site Monday evening, Area Three detectives said in a community alert Tuesday afternoon.

The woman, an 18-year-old Uptown resident, was walking home on the 4800 block of North Ravenswood when the offender approached her and lured her into the construction area between 6:45 p.m and 7 p.m., according to the alert and a CPD report. There, the man sexually assaulted her before escaping eastbound on Lawrence Avenue, police said.

The woman continued to her home, where her father called 911 after learning about the attack, according to a CPD report. Police summoned an ambulance to the family’s home to treat the woman.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
