CHICAGO — Two suspects are in custody after an armed robber fired shots at a victim during a holdup inside a River North parking garage overnight, Chicago police said.

No one was injured by the gunfire, but officers recovered two guns and a drum-style ammunition magazine at the scene.

It happened on the fifth floor of a parking garage in the 500 block of North State Street, according to CPD.

Two men were walking in the garage when four robbers confronted them with guns and demanded their property around 12:30 a.m. Police said one of the victims tried to run away, prompting one of the robbers to open fire on him.

All four robbers ran away after the robbery, but Chicago cops caught two of them nearby. Police also found a Cadillac abandoned near the garage entrance on Grand Avenue with two guns inside. A high-capacity drum magazine and shell casings were found near the robbery scene.

The parking garage is the same facility where three men, including rapper Lil Reese, were shot on May 15, 2021. No one has ever been charged in that shooting.
