Rogers Park man charged with murder of woman found dead Monday

Fostelle Hymon | Chicago Police Department

CHICAGO — A man is charged with first-degree murder after a woman was found fatally beaten inside a Rogers Park apartment on Monday evening, Chicago police said. Fostelle Hymon, 26, will appear for a bond hearing Wednesday afternoon.

Officials will reveal more specifics about the allegations during the court hearing.

So far, we know that police responded to an apartment in the 1700 block of West Estes around 5:50 p.m. after a man reported that his girlfriend appeared to be overdosing.

But officers discovered the 41-year-old woman unresponsive with visible bruises to her face and body, according to a Chicago police spokesperson. She was pronounced dead at the scene. On Tuesday afternoon, the Cook County medical examiner’s office ruled her death a homicide due to multiple injuries suffered in an assault.

Police took Hymon into custody for questioning at the scene. In a news release announcing the charges, CPD said he lives on the same block where the woman was found.

CWBChicago will post a full update after Hymon appears in bond court Wednesday afternoon.
