Man shot in Rogers Park overnight

CHICAGO — A man was shot Sunday morning during an altercation in Rogers Park. It happened around 3:47 a.m. in the 6900 block of North Glenwood.

Chicago police said the 50-year-old victim was standing outside when a man shot him in the shoulder and fled the scene. The victim ran to the nearby Morse Red Line station. A CTA employee there called 911 for the man, who was listed in fair condition.

Moments before the shooting, police received a report of an argument and a person being maced in the 6900 block of North Glenwood. Police were trying to determine if the incidents were related and, if they are, exactly what happened.

One witness told police that they saw the gunman run from the shooting. They described him as Black, 160 to 180 pounds, and wearing a white shirt.

This morning’s victim is the third person shot on the 6900 block of North Glenwood this year. Two people were shot, one fatally, a few houses north of this morning’s crime scene on April 9.

Rogers Park has seen 16 shootings so far this year, a decrease from 29 at this time in 2023. Last year’s total includes five people who were shot during a single incident on July 7.
