Police are investigating an armed robbery reported Tuesday night in Wicker Park, the latest in a series of holdups reported in nearby neighborhoods over the past three days.
At about 10:46 p.m., a 20-year-old man was in the alley behind the 1300 block of North Leavitt Street when a black Chrysler sedan approached him, Chicago police said. Two male robbers were inside the vehicle.
Police said the passenger got out of the car, displayed a firearm, and demanded the victim’s belongings. The victim complied, and the offenders fled in the vehicle with his AirPods, phone, and work shoes. Police did not release a description of the robbers.
Two more armed robberies were reported just south of that area late Sunday night into early Monday morning.
Around 9:55 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 1600 block of West Lake Street. A 22-year-old man told police he was standing on the sidewalk when six offenders arrived in two vehicles.
According to police, one of the offenders displayed a pistol and demanded the victim’s property, including his phone. Another robber punched the man in the face with a closed fist. The victim declined medical attention at the scene.
The offenders in that robbery were described only as Black males who fled in a black sedan, possibly a Kia, and a second unidentified vehicle.
A few hours later, at about 1:35 a.m. Monday, a 27-year-old man was targeted by armed robbers near his residence in the 100 block of North Morgan Street.
The victim told police he was on the sidewalk when two men got out of a silver or gray Jeep and attempted to take his property by force while armed with a firearm. Police said the man was able to get inside his residential building before losing anything, prompting the offenders to flee empty-handed.
The suspects in that incident were described as Black males. One was wearing a black jacket and gray pants, and the other was dressed entirely in black. Police said they fled west on Randolph Street from Morgan Street.
