A man who has spent most of his adult life running scams is back in prison for, you guessed it, running another scam. Ronnie Ross has pulled so many cons that officials once accused him of operating a $1.2 million fraud ring from inside the Cook County Jail while he was locked up for operating yet another scam.

Four suburban teens dead after pickup occupant allegedly pointed rifle at CPD, truck crashed off viaduct
Four suburban teenagers, ages 14 to 19, were killed after the driver of a pickup truck allegedly fled police for the third time and crashed off a Southwest Side viaduct early Sunday. The incident began after officers reported that someone in the truck pointed a rifle at them in Morgan Park. Video shows the pickup going airborne before slamming into a railroad boxcar. CPD’s public statement about the incident conflicts with the department’s own radio traffic

Man found shot in Hermosa alley after no one reports gunfire in former ShotSpotter zone
A man was shot Saturday night in an alley in the Hermosa neighborhood, and it’s unclear how long he lay there before anyone found him, because no one called 911 to report gunfire, he did not cooperate with police, and the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system that once covered the area was shut down by Mayor Brandon Johnson in September 2024.
