A 27-year-old woman is recovering after a man shot her during an altercation in Rogers Park on Sunday night, Chicago police said. She is the third person shot in separate incidents on the same block this year.
According to CPD, the woman was involved in a verbal and physical altercation with a man in the 7700 block of North Paulina Street when he pulled out a handgun and opened fire around 10:33 p.m. One bullet grazed the top of the woman’s head. Someone drove her to St. Francis Hospital, where she was listed in good condition, police said.
A witness described the gunman as a skinny Black man with dreadlocks who was wearing all black clothing and was last seen running north on Paulina Street.
The woman is the seventh person shot in Rogers Park this year. Three of those victims have now been wounded in separate incidents at almost exactly the same location.
On February 15, a 17-year-old boy was shot just a few steps from where the woman was wounded Sunday night in the 7700 block of North Paulina Street.
Then, on February 25, a 36-year-old man was shot directly across the street from Sunday’s crime scene, also in the 7700 block of North Paulina Street.
No arrests have been reported in any of those cases.
