Chicago police arrested a bank robber on Wednesday as he waited (and waited and waited) for the teller to return with the cash he demanded, federal officials say.
After twice entering and leaving Chase Bank, 4455 South Pulaski, Eugene Hill returned a third time and handed a note to the teller around 1:08 p.m., according to an FBI agent’s affidavit.
“Robbery I need 20 thousand No Dye Pack or Alarm I have a gun,” the note read.

The affidavit said the teller went to a back room, told her co-workers that the bank was being robbed, and activated a silent alarm. All of the employees stayed in the room for safety.
Meanwhile, Hill stood at the bank counter, patiently waiting for the teller to return with the $20,000.
Four minutes after the teller tripped the silent alarm, Chicago cops arrived at the bank and took Hill into custody, the FBI agent said.
The bank’s surveillance cameras and police body cameras recorded Hill throwing his hands in the air as the police closed in.
Hill told investigators that he was simply trying to cash a check, and he “did not realize the demand note was a demand note,” the FBI agent wrote. However, the teller told the FBI that Hill never gave her a check.
