At least two drive-by gunmen sprayed more than 100 bullets into a large crowd gathered outside in Roseland late Friday, leaving 14 people wounded in a mass shooting that launched a violent start to Father’s Day weekend in Chicago. By sunrise Saturday, Chicago had already recorded more shooting victims than were reported during the entire Father’s Day weekend last year.
“Please pray for this mega violent night,” Pastor Donovan Price wrote on social media early Saturday. “Shootings everywhere mass shooting near my house/church, shooting on the train…madness Pray”
The drive-by unfolded shortly after 11 p.m. in the 200 block of West 95th Street. Chicago police officers responding to reports of gunfire found two victims at the scene: a 32-year-old woman who suffered two gunshot wounds to her back and a 44-year-old man who sustained four graze wounds to his back. Both were taken to hospitals in good condition, according to CPD. As officers secured the area, additional victims began arriving at hospitals across the city and suburbs, bringing the total number shot to 13.
Witnesses told police that a red SUV pulled alongside a large crowd gathered on the block and two gunmen opened fire, one shooting from the driver’s side and the other from the passenger side. The shooters unleashed dozens of rounds before fleeing eastbound on 95th Street, according to preliminary police information.
By early Saturday, CPD had cordoned off the entire block between Yale and Princeton avenues. More than 100 evidence markers dotted the street and sidewalks, many marking what appeared to be rifle shell casings.

CPD said a 26-year-old man was also injured, but refused medical treatment. The nature of his injuries was not disclosed.
Between noon Friday and noon. Saturday, CPD reported that at least 32 people had been shot citywide. That total already exceeded the 21 shooting victims recorded during the entire Father’s Day weekend in 2025. But last year was unusually peaceful for Father’s Day weekend in Chicago, which is historically one of the more violent weekends of the year, according to data compiled by HeyJackass.com. In fact, 74 people were shot during Father’s Day weekend in 2024 and the same weekend during the riot-ripped summer of 2020 saw 113 people shot or killed.
