Armed robbery crew targeting victims in Rogers Park, Edgewater, police say

Detectives are warning about a group of violent armed robbery offenders who are targeting victims on the Far North Side. CWBChicago first told you about the robbery team last week.

In a community alert issued Wednesday night, police said four men are using a black Toyota RAV4 to commit the robberies in Rogers Park and Edgewater. The men get out of the SUV, display handguns, collect the victims’ valuables, and then batter the victims before driving away, police said.

Detectives publicly linked two robberies on July 29 to the crew. One took place around 2 p.m. on the 5600 block of North Broadway and the other at 8:11 p.m. on the 7000 block of North Sheridan.

Police described the robbers four Black men between 18- and 25-years-old who stand 5’8” to 5’10” tall and weigh 140 to 160 pounds. They were alternatively described in the alert as four slender Black males.

Anyone with information about the robberies can contact Area Three detectives at 312-744-8263 regarding crime pattern P20-3-150.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
