3 shot near Wilson CTA station

CHICAGO — Three people were shot near the Wilson CTA station in Uptown on Tuesday evening, Chicago police said. All of the victims are expected to be OK.

The men were standing in the 4500 block of North Broadway when a gunman shot at them around 5:03 p.m. Some witnesses said the shooter ran to the CTA station, while others believed the gunman was in a car that sped south on Broadway. The police did not release any information about the offender.

An officer said police found seven shell casings at the scene, all from a rifle. A bullet broke a window in a nearby photo studio.

Police said two men were shot in the leg, a 21-year-old and a 32-year-old. They were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition. A 38-year-old man was taken to Weiss Hospital with a gunshot wound to his foot.

The men are the eighth, ninth, and tenth people shot in Uptown this year. That compares to ten at this point last year and eleven as of this date in 2021.

  • A 15-year-old boy was shot in a drive-by in the 1000 block of West Lawrence on March 1. Someone inside the SUV called the victim by name, then began shooting, according to CPD.
  • On January 19, a 33-year-old man was shot at a bus stop in the 5100 block of North Broadway. Police said another man walked up to the victim and shot him in the leg, but they did not provide a motive for the crime.

The 42-year-old victim was riding a bike when he saw a man breaking into a car and confronted him about it, according to CPD. The offender pulled out a weapon and shot the victim in the elbow.
