Chicago cop took $500 bribes to rent out his high-tech CPD radio, prosecutors say

A Chicago police officer is accused of taking cash payments in exchange for letting someone else use his department-issued encrypted radio, prompting felony bribery and misconduct charges from Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul. Prosecutors allege the officer accepted $500 payments on multiple occasions for access to a radio capable of monitoring real-time police activity, equipment that CPD encrypted beginning in late 2022 to keep police operations from being overheard by criminals.
