Chicago police are investigating a string of brazen and violent daylight robberies that unfolded in Logan Square and Avondale on Monday morning. The offenders pistol-whipped victims in two robberies and fired shots while carjacking a third victim, police said.
An armed robber who threatens his victims with a machete struck again Sunday night in the Irving Park neighborhood and he swung his weapon at the victim this time, police say. It’s at least the ninth robbery that police have linked to the crime pattern.

A woman was carjacked at gunpoint Monday evening on Milwaukee Avenue in Bucktown, according to an initial police report. A few hours later, CPD issued a community alert about armed hijackings in nearby areas, but the Bucktown incident was not included in the pattern.
